Welcome to the First Presbyterian Church of Chipley Florida!
We are a Bible-believing, gospel preaching church. We strive to help you understand what it means to believe in the Bible;what the gospel is; who Jesus is and what he did; how sinners are saved; and why we worship as a community of believers.
Whether it be a Sunday worship, adult or children's Sunday school class, Bible study, women's circle, monthly prayer meeting, fellowship luncheon, or any one of the many other activities of the church, you'll find a friendly church home at First Presbyterian Church of Chipley. Our members span all age groups and enjoy dynamic Christian fellowship.
Please join us for any of our services or activities. You'll discover a warm, loving group of Christians, excited to welcome you into our church family.
The First Presbyterian Church of Chipley began in February 1896 when a small group of families invited Rev. L.H. Wilson, an evangelist for the Presbytery to preach. In October of 1896 the church was formally organized with thirteen members. The first elected Elders, D.A. Anderson, J.P. Schell, Sr., and G.W. Johnson were ordained. The congregation held services in various locations until the small congregation was able to complete the construction and dedication of the first building which was located just west of the present day manse (now known as the Pennies from Heaven Shop), The manse was first occupied in 1926.
The congregation began worshiping in its present day sanctuary on July 31, 1938 at the corner of North FIfth Street and Watts Avenue.
Two major renovation projects followed with the construction of the Education Wing in 1958 and the installation of a new pitched roof in 1992. The church completed a project to re-roof all of its facilities in 2016.
We are a congregation committed to the teachings of Jesus; to serve others, to care for the hungry, and to worship the Lord our God. Specifically, we offer traditional worship, reach out to the community with Christ's love , and care for each other with the welcome of Christ.
